Salmonella and cancelled plans

Well last night the plan was go to to Maggianos for our post-Valentines day celebration. But our Valentines eve was filled with more sick people and sick people “things”. BJ came home from work Wednesday night sick as ever, and continued that way throughout the night. So needless to say I had to cancel our reservation and last night he had beef soup and I had hot dogs. SO on the same scale as Magg’s.

The Good news is we THINK we know what is causing all this sickness and have remedied it. Last night we were watching the news right before bed and they had a story on contaminated Peter Pan peanut butter. So I’m watching and the people on there are having the same symptoms as Hayden and BJ. So I keep listening and they say that one of the plants that they manufacture the PB had an outbreak of salmonella and they are recalling certain cases of it. So they give the number, I jump up and check my can, all the while BJ is saying “Lindsay its not going to be ours…stop freaking out” but I continued and lo and behold….WE HAD ONE!!

I freaked!! I couldn’t believe it (by the way check your PB if its Peter Pan or the Walmart brand the contaminated number is if the serial number on the top of the lid starts with 2111 ). Hayden had been eating the stuff like crazy recently and BJ as well. I had a couple bites but nothing major.
So hopefully we should all stop getting sick now that we know what in the world is going on.

Today the weather is so cold…it is 9:30am and it hasn’t even reached 30! Hello!!! We live in Texas not Colorado! Brrrrrr! Stay warm and healthy everyone!

Happy Valentines Day

Well the sickies are going away and I’m locking the deadbolt behind them. I am so tired of them. I am feeling much better and so is Hayden. We still have an occassional “blue” spell, but now we know what to do with them so I’m a pro now 🙂

Today is our first real Valentines together as a three person family. Last year, we were in the hospital in Oklahoma with my grandmother and family after her stroke. Bj was here by himself. It was kind of sad, but life happens and doesn’t usually ask you what day is better for it to happen. So we are excited to spend today all together. Hayden got “The Little Mermaid”, a strawberry CD/DVD case for HER cd’s and dvd’s for road trips, and some cute little valentines monkey socks. She loves monkeys.

We don’t have plans for tonight, but tomorrow, BJ and I have reservations in Houston at Maggianos Little Italy….YUM. If you have never been there, you have to go. And when you do, take a group with you so you can get the family meal. They let you select two of every part of the menu, so you get two appetizers, two salads, two pastas, two main courses, and two desserts. The bowls are HUGE and so you dig in, but the best part is when you finish a bowl…THEY REFILL IT..and keep doing so until you leave, and another great part…you get to take home everything you don’t eat. So refill one more time and box it all up 🙂 Its amazing! I am excited and can’t wait to eat tomorrow.

The Weekend of the ER

Wow…where to start. I have tried to sit down and post a couple of times, but I am just so physically and mentally exhausted that I was just blank every time. So this might not be interesting but I want to document it for memory’s sake.

Friday we got a night out. …much needed for me. I was up to my ears in barf and just needed a break from the sad , sick baby. 😦 So we went out with Britton and Jess and a friend of theirs and then split up into guys/girls for a movie….we saw Catch and Release and they saw the new Hannibal…blech. I liked our movie…then we went out for some yummy PF Chang’s…yumm!

Saturday Hayden was doing much better, hadn’t thrown up in a couple of days and was acting herself again, so she and I went to Ty’s b-day party and had a great time……until Hayden threw up everything she had been storing up for the past two days…oh yes…and did I mention how it was right in the middle of opening present time……poor thing. I had it on me and she had it all over her….

Luckily, I had spotted a really cute dress at Target that morning while I was rushing to buy a present so I had that in the car for her….so at least I didn’t have to let her run around in her diaper and socks.

So Hayden and I left, but on top of her being sick again, she was getting dehydrated. She wouldn’t drink anything we tried to give her and everything she did drink, she would throw up. I was getting worried…but the worst was when her hands, feet and lips/mouth turned scarily blue…..I mean blue/purple..It was freaky. So I called the pediatrician and they said to get her to the ER. Something was really wrong if her body parts were turning colors.

So the adventure continued. My mom met me at the ER and we tried to get her in….well you all know how the wait at the ER can be….so we waited and waited, while trying to keep the sick child calm. She was wayyyyyy past her nap by then and freaking out.

Finally we got her in, and BJ got there. So I was really worried that she was going to have to get an IV because there were about 13 other kids in the ER that looked on the brink of death from the whole vomiting/dehydration syndrome. Poor kids…all these moms were trying everything to keep their kids OUT of the ER and here we all were. But when the Dr. came in she said Hayden was not close to needing an iv. So they checked her out and then gave her some medicine for her stomach so that she could keep her liquids down and we got to leave. Thank God! We were only there for about four hours and I am thankful because that is short compared to some people’s stay in the ER.

The whole ordeal was so overwheming and tiring and I was already run down from her being sick all week. So that was like my last straw. The next day I woke up feeling like I hadn’t slept in days and that I had ran several marathons. My body was so sore and I felt feverish and sick and tired….and just blah.

So pray for us, We are exhausted and tired of being sick. The ER experience was one that I never want to have to repeat. EVER.

Hayden is doing good now. She has started eating a little again, and is drinking very good. No more fever and no more blue-ness. Now if my throat would just stop hurting and my energy return to me we’d be in business.

Thanks for all your prayers and calls!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!

Thursday BOB forgot his wedding anniversary. Betty was really angry.

She told him “Tomorrow morning, I expect to see something in the driveway that goes from 0-200 in 6 seconds and IT BETTER BE THERE!!”

The next morning Bob got up early and left for work.

When Betty woke up, she looked out the window. Sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway.

Confused, Betty put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Bob has been missing since Friday.

A Moment In Time

So last night amidst the tears and barf, Hayden and I had a moment…it was so precious…I was cradling her like a little baby and she was LO-VING IT! She was just gazing into my eyes and I was rubbing her little face, trying anything I could think of to take her mind off her rolling tummy. Then suddenly the moment happened….I said quietly to her…” I love you baby girl” and she looks back and slowly raises her little hand to my face…I thought to myself, “this must look so cute” …..she continues to raise her hand and I think she is going to try to rub my face like I’m rubbing hers, but instead her little pointer finger goes straight….into….my nose.

I died laughing and so did she. Then she kept trying to do it all night long and I thought it was the funniest thing.

I’m sure the “moment” would have been nice, but the one that resulted is one I will definitely never forget.

Yep its just the stomach bug…dr. said she will be fine in a couple of days…poor thing 😦 I hate this for her.

Barf and Bed….what an agenda

Hayden stayed in bed til 1pm today…woke up, had a bath, barfed twice and is back in bed…poor thing….

Superbowls and Home, Sweet Home

I must say that I am soooo glad that the Groundhog did NOT see his shadow because I am so so so so tired of this wet and cold, nasty weather..UGH! I am ready for spring…not too hot…not too cold. Perfect for days at the zoo and swinging at the park. I can’t wait! I can, on the other hand, wait for the mosquitos and blazing Texas heat and humidity.

Sunday we had a Superbowl party and it was great fun to see friends, we learned a new card game “Nerts” from Britton, and wrestled with crazy children until I wore myself into the ground…literally. Deb and Colton were there and he was tackling me and tickling me…such fun! Hayden and Colt played so good together and they had so much fun. Poor Colt did NOT want to leave…and Hayden passed out before the game was over…..Colton was so cute. He kept calling Hayden a “him”…which in my books is completely unacceptable, no matter how cute you are or who your mamma is 🙂 Oh and once he called me “LindsayBJ” …haha.

I also learned that I have a bit of OCD in certain areas….it came out during the game of Nerts because I was seriously struggling to play because all of the cards were not straight in the middle. Instead they were heaped into a big jumble that was prohibiting my mad-gaming skills. It was very interesting to see that side of myself.

Hayden also wore herself into the ground…she went to bed around 8:30pm..woke up at 7:30am…then went down for her nap at 11am and woke up at 4PM!!! A FIVE HOUR NAP!! I was getting a little worried for a while, but she was just sleeping so soundly. Poor thing is cutting three teeth, so its been pretty rough for her lately. That will make 14 teeth for her after these three….

I also must announce that I am officially a Grey’s Anatomy fan….I held out for 2 1/2 seasons but I finally gave in after pretty much everyone in the world told me to 🙂 I watched the first five episodes the other night and I’m hooked. I love it! Now if only I can catch up with the rest of the world that is a season and a half ahead of me 😦

In other news…for those of you that know we have been really praying and seeking God for a home church for the past 8 months. We have been visiting several churches and just didn’t have a peace about which one. So we have finally made our decision a couple of weeks ago and are official members of a church here locally. We are so happy and excited to finally be able to plug in somewhere and be “home”. It is such a wonderful feeling and I thank all of you that have been praying for us…we have found our place for this time in our life and we are happy to see what God has for us there.

One last pic for your enjoyment….one of Hayden’s favorite parts of the day..bath time!!!

Conversations between Hayden and Daddy on the monitor

I overheard this precious conversation on the monitor between Hayden and Daddy:

“Goeeee”

“Yes baby, we are going to go”

“Milk”

“Yes we will go get you a cup of milk”

“Buckee”

“No, baby we are not going to drink a bucket of milk”
