Doctor Update

Last Thursday was doctor day for all of us. My mom and I loaded up the twirls and headed to the pediatrician. Hayden met us there with Grammy Denise. I had one supervisor per child 🙂 I knew that all three girls were going to get shots so I figured it would be crazy. So we brought the troops. The Lord really paved the way for us germaphobes. When we got to the pedi, there were only two other patients in the waiting room (THAT NEVER HAPPENS) ! And we literally waited about 10 minutes and were in. (AGAIN…NEVER HAPPENS).

So we got in and started stripping clothes and diapers off and weighing and measuring girls….

Here are the stats….
Hayden: 34lbs., 36″– 95% for both
Ella: 15″ head, 23″ length, 11lbs.4oz. –10% (the littlest babe now 🙂 )
Preslyn: 15 1/4″ head, 23″length, 11lbs.10oz. –10th%
(The babies are finally on the normal growth curve!!!)

Hayden had to get one shot and merely said “OUCH”. It was glorious. She was more concerned about getting her three “pops” (Suckers) for her reward. Being that Preslyn and Ella should get “pops” too but are too young, she gets all three for doing so good with her shot 😉 Hayden was totally on par for all of her developmental questions and passed her checkup with flying colors!!!

Preslyn and Ella each had to get FIVE SHOTS A PIECE! I freaked when I saw the tray of needles and then asked, “Is that just for one of them??” Poor babies SCREAMED THEIR GUTS OUT. It was awful. Our pedi was very happy with them though and said they are doing great. Good news…no more synagis shots (RSV preventive shot) WHOOHOO!!!! So we go back for their 6 month checkups and no more monthly shot checkups. She also said we could start easing into some cereal when I felt like Preslyn was ready and then to solids. I’m trying to hold her off until after Ella’s surgery so we can all be on the same schedule together, but we’ll see how that goes. She’s a little hungry monkey. They are both pretty close to being totally on par with development. They should be rolling more, but they are trying so that is excellent. Preslyn’s neck is a little sluggish sometimes, but she just needs to keep strengthening it. Other than that they are perfect little “spuds” as we commonly refer to them.

Oh and Ella’s barium test went well. The actual procedure was horrendous and she screamed like crazy, but the results came back great and she is ready for surgery. Her surgeon is on vacation this week (resting his hands up for her) and then she will be scheduled sometime soon. I don’t have a date yet. Thank you for all of your prayers through all of this.

In other news they are still sleeping through the night for the most part. If our feedings fall late enough to put them down around 9ish…then we get a for sure all nighter with Ella and usually can get Preslyn to go until around 6. That is wondrous!!!

Hayden and I had a little fun this weekend and put her hair in sponge rollers. She took them out before they were ready so we had no curls to show for our effort, but she looked so hilariously cute with them in and she felt so big and girly and loved having them in. She is very into getting her own clothes on right now, brushing her hair, wearing her “lipsticks”, perfume, deodorant and nail polish. Such a girly girl. Although today while we were at Target she picked out a brown Cars shirt out of the boy section (its her favorite movie) and I let her get it. She’s having a rough time with her lungs right now, so we are back to breathing treatments …joy joy. Hoping that this change of weather will be easy on her.

I have officially lost my mind. Last week I took Hayden to school and when we walked in, all of the kids had their little Easter baskets, except for Hayden. I had TOTALLY forgotten that they were having an egg hunt that day and were supposed to have their baskets and 12 filled eggs. So I ran to Target and came back with her supplies. Poor girl. Then today we all loaded up to drop her off (BJ, Hayden and I) and pulled up in the parking lot to an empty school. Apparently we are on either spring break or are off for Easter, either way, I had no clue. Poor child. Carrie if you are reading this…please comment to tell me when school starts back. I apparently missed the memo completely. I do know that we have a western day coming up 🙂 So people, if I repeat my stories to you, please just tell me to stop, or if I have totally forgotten stuff, don’t hesitate to tell me, because I am officially off my rocker. I’m crazed…I’m a lunatic…I have too many things going on in my life.

Horray: to my new Mary Kay recruit 🙂
Booooo: nasty pollen that makes my kids sick

4 months and 29 months

Wow! I can’t believe today has already come. My girls are all three growing up so fast and changing right under our noses. We go next week for their four month/2 year checkups and will have all of their stats then.

Preslyn is such a little lovie. She just loves to look at her sisters and is so nosey. She is happy and active and is just jabbering like crazy. We even get an occasional laugh out of her and zillions of smiles! She is trying so hard to make rolling over one of her regular activities, but isn’t quite there yet. Soon though! She also pushes up on her arms so tall and loves to lay on her tummy. She loves laying under her baby Einstein play mat and looking at the flashing star that sings to her. She is waking up only once per night which is a HALLELUJAH for us! We are going to transition into their nursery very soon.

Ella is just a little cuddle muffin. She has many days that she decides she is “needy” and wants nothing more than to be held all day. Poor thing has been through alot so its very hard not to spoil her rotten. She is also smiling and flashing her adorable little dimples at us. She has been drooling nonstop the past few days and I’m really wondering if we are already approaching teething. She is loving getting to eat what she wants and is also only waking up once per night. She likes to lay under her light up mobile and look at it in the dark. We are going on Monday for her pre-op test and then they will tell us when her surgery is. Should be very soon. So please pray for her because on Sunday night we cant’ feed her anything after midnight, so pray she sleeps all the way until we get to the dr. 🙂

Hayden is just a talk-a-haulic. She is starting to crack jokes now and say the sweetest things. She has learned how to make funny faces, and pulled one on me the other day and I was laughing so hard, so now she will do it ever so often because she knows it makes me laugh. She is growing so much as well. We measured her the other day because all of her pants have started looking like high waters and she had grown an 1 1/2″. So we’ll see next week just how tall she is. She has learned when her birthday is, knows all of our names and middle names as well as her grandparents names and middle names. She loves to listen to music and has recently discovered my IPOD and tries to get me to let her listen to hit any chance she gets. Her favorite shows are Handy Manny, Doodlebops and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. She calls McDonalds “donald ducks” and is now eating apples just like an adult, without me needing to cut them up and peel them. She has her bottom two year old molars, and we are still on the watch for the top ones. Potty training is coming along, but we still have a ways to go.

I love them all so much and can’t wait to see them become great friends!

No more monsters

Today I took Hayden with me to get my ears pierced for the third time. No I don’t have three holes, I have had to get the same single hole re pierced three times. Ridiculous. You would think I would learn my lesson and leave my earrings in, but I am really bad about keeping them in.

Anyway, so we are on the way and I am telling Hayden that she will have to hold my hand so I won’t be scared and she says to me in the sweetest voice ever, “Its OK mommy, there are no monsters in the car.” I was so relieved, of course.

Milestone!

Preslyn rolled over last night 🙂 She has actually done it once before a while back but she apparently (i wasn’t there to see) had a blanket sort of bunched behind her back that time…this time it was flat on her back and she worked and worked so hard and then over she went all of the sudden 🙂 It was so great to see!

We also went for Ella’s checkup with her surgeon this week and they are scheduling her for one test so they can look at her intestines before the surgery and that is in 10 days. So then the surgery will follow within the month after that. Be praying for a smooth situation for all of us as we prepare for this again. The good news was that she was released to have a little more milk!!! We can start very slowly increasing her feeds as we see she is tolerating it. So far she has not been dumping so that is great news and she is loving the extra 15mL in every bottle…AND we don’t have to waker her up every three hours if she is sleeping and not acting hungry. She usually is ready but in the night sometimes she will give us an extra hour or two so that is wonderful!!

Have a happy weekend and leap year!

unanswered questions for God

This week has been one that I wish I could rewind and skip past most of. Last week we found out that some dear friends of ours, who were expecting their first child, were going to have to be hospitalized for the remainder of their pregnancy (she was only 19 weeks) due to some complications that had arisen. OUr hearts sooo went out to them and we made the trip up to the hospital on Saturday night to extend whatever encouragement we could muster. My heart just broke for them to have to go through what I had just endured and for even longer! Then Monday morning we got a call that she had had the baby. I have never in my life felt so distraught for a friend. Some of my friends have gone through some major things in their lives that I have been so sad for them but this just cut straight to my heart. Because as a parent I can’t imagine ever losing one of my children and not having them in my life. ANd with my high risk pregnancy it was just too close to home for me. Oh my heart still aches for them and probably always will. Those are the kind of days that I wish life was never supposed to have and never DID have. I don’t understand God’s plan at all in situations like those, and though I know He has a bigger plan…I will definitely be in line asking WHY??? on that one forever. Why do people who want more than anything to have a child, not be able to have one, yet others are getting pregnant right and left and aborting just as quick. Why does God allow those pregnancies ever to happen??? Why can’t He just reverse the situations and let the ones who want and deserve have the child? And why does He allow a child to be formed in a womb if He knows the end result is not to be born? I know the answers to some of these questions already but this is my selfish heart crying out saying Why God…why isn’t life fair??? Why can I have two beautiful girls formed from one egg and my friends can’t be given the joy of one child.

Potty Talk

Today during one of our many drawn out potty episodes, Hayden is sitting there NOT going to the restroom and finally I decide we have “tried” long enough and will try again later. So I tell Hayden I’m going to count to ten and then she has to get down. So I start…1….2…3….SHRIEKS AND WAILS from Hayden “NOOOOO MOMMYYYY, don’t say four and five…don’t say FOUR AND FIVE” !!!!!!!!!!”

Sorry to disappoint

I have been notified that many of you check my blog every day to see that there is nothing new posted….yeah. Well that’s because we are running around here with our heads cut off in a blurred delirium that never goes away.

The girls are doing great. Preslyn started really smiling and jabbering and cooing last week. She is so adorable and will really try to talk to you. It sounds like she says “hey” in the sweetest voice ever. Ella we thought wasn’t really doing the same but a couple of days later she started smiling more and cooing. Not as much but she IS doing it. They are both growing so much and are in the 10lb. range finally! Ella has a nurse that comes out to the house weekly and so we get to weigh her each time. They are both starting to stay awake a lot more during the day, which makes it alot harder, but we can’t sleep away our lives now, can we?? Although that sounds like a MARVELOUS idea at the moment.

I’m beginning to be a bag pro 🙂 Ella’s bag has given me some fits, but I always win that fight. It usually stays on about 2 days and then it is always at the most inconvenient time, it will peel off and I will see a big poop stain start forming on her clothes and know it is time to change it. The bag, for those who have been asking, is pretty much like a Playtex-drop in attached to her stomach. So when it fills up each feeding I will empty it with a syringe and hope that we get the longest wear out of it so I don’t have to change it frequently.

Preslyn played in the exersaucer a few times recently and is still a little too small for it, but she is content for about 5 minutes or so 🙂 lol…hey, five minutes is five minutes.

BJ and I are rotating trying to take naps whenever possible. But it never seems to be enough. We are always tired. We can’t let Ella try to sleep through the night since she has a specific volume she can have, its not much so we have to wake her up every 3 hours. And Preslyn is still not sleeping through the night either. So our nights are a three ring circus. Tonight we have help so maybe we can both get one full nights sleep. I’m so excited!!

Well…i just wanted to check in. Sorry I have nothing but baby updates, but currently that is all my life exists of, so bear with me 🙂

Thank you to everyone who has been sending meals! It is such a wonderful thing to not have to even think about it. Thank you to those who have really stepped in and held up our arms during this crazy time. We appreciate you living life with us even though it is exhausting when you step in our front door. Thanks to those who have gotten flu shots so you can help us…whoohoo!! Way to take one for the team! 🙂 I really thank you for that because I know it does hurt a bit.

We ARE alive….barely

So adding a third child to the mix has rocked our planet. We are beyond exhausted. We are trying to get the babies on the same schedule, but being in a three month routine in the NICU is not easy to wean off of.

E&P

We are loving being able to love on our little E-diddy as we like to call her, whenever we want to. But my life pretty much involves making milk, changing diapers and ostomy bags, bathing, and feeding my family. Occassionaly I get some sleep at night 🙂

E&P

We went in for another synagis shot (to prevent RSV) today and a weight check and I think you’ll be surprised to know that Ella is 9lb. 8oz and Preslyn is 9lbs. 5oz. !! I couldn’t believe how close they were. Ella is 21 3/4″ long. Pres didn’t get measured. My littles are growing so fast and getting so big. Its sad to think that most of you will never know how small they were because by the time you see them they will look like normal sized babes.

E&P

Hope you all have a wonderful Valentines!!

P&E

Oh yes…and to answer the most monotonous question ever…yes, we are done adding to the size of our family 🙂

Day 97

I haven’t posted that we have been scheduled to pick Ella up today because I didn’t want to jinx it… but we were scheduled to get her and we DID 🙂

In her coming home outfit

She was so excited to be home! 🙂

Ella was just chilling on Preslyn. It was so cute!

Our first family picture!! 🙂 It’s been a long time coming!

All day it was nasty and raining but the second we pulled onto our property the rain stopped, the sun peeked out and a beautiful DOUBLE rainbow appeared. Such a reminder that God is always in control and He fulfills His promises. What could have been more appropriate today 🙂
