No more bags in this house

We brought Ella up to the hospital to be prepped for surgery on Monday night. She was very good and didn’t get crazy even though she couldn’t eat. She slept all the way up until I handed her over to the surgery nurse the next afternoon at 12:45.

She was in surgery for about 2 hours and it was very successful. No surprises! They were able to put her back together with no problems. She slept for the first 3 days pretty much entirely. And yesterday she started waking up and being more coherant. We were waiting on her to start passing gas…a sign that her bowels were waking up. BJ had been on duty yesterday so I could go home for a few hours and he called me on my way back up to tell me that she had pooped a little dot. ella's first poopOh people. We were giddy! You have to understand that we have NEVER changed a poopy diaper of hers. She had a couple at the NICU but I never had to do those. So this was a huge milestone for her. So BJ and I switched off and he went home and about an hour later, I hear a big toot 😉 and then a little while later Ella had her first BLOWOUT! WHOOHOOO

She has been pooping regularly now so they started her on her fluids again.

So she is supposed to be discharged tomorrow night or Sunday. We are so excited!! She got to start drinking Pedialyte today and then she will go to milk tomorrow 🙂 SHe can’t wait!

Thanks for all of your prayers! We can’t wait to see you all soon!

I just wanted to post and clarify for those of you who are readers of Rachel P’s blog that I am not the Lindsey in the accident who is on life support. I’ve had several emails and IM’s of people concerned that it was me. I am thanking God that it wasn’t, but it is so sad to see how life can change so quickly. Please be in prayer for her friends and family as they are going through this hard time. And thank you for all the concern for me. I am hugging my family extra tight today.

It’s Monday

I think every Monday starts out the same for me. I drag myself out of bed, look around my house and sigh as I say in my head, ” HOW does this house turn into THIS EVERY SINGLE WEEK!!!!” and then I make a mental plan to do put everything back together and then realize there is so much that I don’t even know where to start….so I start several tasks at once that end up making the house look like I didn’t do a thing, which in turn, yes I did I just started 10 things and didn’t get to finish them all yet. I did, though, replace the light bulb that has been burnt out in my room for about 10 days, find the shoes I wore on Saturday to give back to the nanny, and find a new home for the triple stroller which we busted out this weekend and gave a whirl.

Preslyn is in the back in the first and on the left in the last pic.

It’s now officially the last week of Ella’s “life with a bag”. We are all thrilled 🙂 Not looking forward to the surgery next Tuesday but definitely know that it is a means to a normal life for all of us.

Michelle tagged me to do this during my next post….so here goes:

What 3 skills would I learn?
1. I would love to be a good photographer. Yes I know that like EVERYBODY would love to do this, but I really would. Because I think photos, taken the right way can really show a persons true personality. I love taking pictures of the kiddos and would love to have that skill perfected like my cool pal Joyelle 🙂

2. I would like to learn how to sew. I love doing crafty things and I would love to know how to make things and sell them. Handmade things are so cool and I think it is amazing to be able to create something using your hands.

3. Lastly, I’d like to learn how to be a boutique owner. I want to do this in the near future and have had that dream for a long time. So I’d like to learn how to manage it really well and get really good contacts. Learn to have an eye for what is “SO NOW” 😉 and know when to move on when it goes to “SO Yesterday”.

there…i tag Melissa, Deb, Rachel (both of you) and Allison (you never comment but I know you read!!!)

Answers and Progress

Could it get any easier…lol…three little couch potatoes.
(ella, preslyn)

Mel, I love snapfish.com. They have great prices, quick and cheap shipping and its so easy to upload all of the pictures. I would recommend making your own CD though. Much cheaper. I think theirs is like $10 for a CD of what you send in. not worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the advice girls….you all said what I was hoping I could do, that being chunk the bulky CD cases 🙂

Hayden wanted to be like BJ and have her glasses taped to her face…so cute 🙂

…and there was sight

Thursday I took BJ down to our dreaded place, The Medical Center, and he had Lasik done on both of his eyes. Since then he’s been recovering and be cautious. So we had a laid back weekend…rented some movies, made burgers and relaxed as much as possible while juggling three girls 🙂 It was such a bummer because this weekend was the perfect temperature outside, beautiful and not too cold or hot. And we were dying to be out in it, but sadly are still confined for a couple of more weeks. Oh how we are anxious for Ella’s surgery to be past us and life to go on!!!

The babies have been really starting to be aware of each other a little more and if they are close enough they will try to jabber to each other and smile! Its so cute!

So while I am cleaning out my house piece by piece over the next year…(we are not going to start building until January.) I am taking suggestions on efficient cleaning/organizing techniques. My first inquiry is this….I want to know how you keep your photos organized. Since the digital era has boomed, I want to know what your system of storing photos from your camera to your computer to printing them. I usually just label all of them and save them to files on my computer for months and months until I have a big window of time (HA) and then send them all to snapfish. This ends up being like 500 pictures at a time, then I have to wait for another big window of time (HA) to organize them and put them into albums and piles for scrapbooking (which never actually occurs…but is in the near future! HELLO girls scrap nights) So …give me your feedback…what works for you??

Also…what on earth do you do with all of your CD cases…we keep all of our CD’s in a big book that we take in and out of the car, but what do you do with the cases?? They are such dust collectors/space-taker-uppers…..any advice????

Item #2

Funnies a la Hay Hay

We took Hayden out to lunch the other day and were greeted by a male hostess who was very tall and eccentric. He had his hair done in dreads and then pulled up in a ponytail on top of his head, therefore making the dread tips stick pretty much straight up in the air. It was a little out of the ordinary but nothing to be like, “Oh wow, did you see that dude’s hair!?!” Well, apparently for a two year old, that was some CRAZY hair! Hayden immediately locked her eyes on the hair and would not stop. BJ and I are trying to act like we are laughing at each other but it is so funny to see her just staring like crazy. We try so hard to distract her but nothing works. So finally we get seated and think that our near embarrassment is over. Just then Hayden says to us, in a not so quiet voice…”Where’s the big hair?? Where did the hair go?” Oh I just about lost it. Then she spotted him across the room and says “oh, there he is.” oh wow…i feel like many embarrassments are in store for us with that kid.

The second one was today, Hayden and I are talking back and forth and I ask her a question to which she answers, ” I don’t know Big Mama.” Again, nearly choked myself from the surprise and the laughter.

Mary Kay limited quantities available for excellent prices!

I’m going to be renovating my house soon so I am going through everything and getting rid of tons….SO, I’m trying to downsize some of my Mary Kay inventory that I used more at shows and parties and since I am not doing those right now and probably won’t for a while I am going to put some stuff up for sale and it will go to whoever contacts me first! You are also welcome to come by anytime and shop my shelves of my current inventory. Just call and schedule a time and I can get you all fixed up.

First item is the lighted vanity travel mirror. It is adjustable and has two mirrors with different magnifications. It even comes with batteries already and a pretty travel bag for easy packing. Get yours for $12 right now! I only have one left so email me or comment and you can have it! It will be great for your summer vacation!

Springtime 2008

We at the munson house have been a little under the weather it seems. All three girls have had snotty noses and coughs since the weather has changed and BJ just went to the Dr. today due to a sinus infection. I have remained healthy and am trying to take care of my little family.

I’ve been so busy lately and had lots to blog about but no time to do it. I threw a little shower for my friend Jamie who is getting married in less than three weeks. I think it turned out nicely and hopefully she did too.
Thanks to all who supported me in the effort! You guys rock!

Isn’t the cake that Corey made FAB!!! She said it was her first time to use fondant…sheesh! What a PRO!

The babies are getting to be so much fun. They are both laughing and smiling and talking so much. Ella is a professional roller. She will not stay on her tummy unless she wants to. The second she changes her mind…over she goes. She’s even better than Preslyn. Preslyn is still working on rolling but still needs more practice. She is a jabberer though and wants her voice to be heard!

BJ, Hayden and I got to get out and go to church for easter all together for the first time since the babies were born and it was so wonderful. BJ’s mom was gracious enough to stay home so we could venture out. I can’t wait until we can ALL go! That will be wonderful.

Ella’s surgery is scheduled finally. April 22. So now I can start getting mentally prepared for that date. I think it is going to be even harder for me this time around, now that she really feels part of the family and we know her so much better. It makes me feel like it will be harder for some reason this time. Just start praying for a quick recovery, a quick extubation from the breathing tube post surgery, and a smooth pre-surgery fasting period. She will be admitted the night before to get all cleaned out and then not be able to eat again. Pray it goes as smoothly as last time.

Some new things going on are…Ella discovered her hands and feet. Yesterday she was staring at her hand for so long and then today Misti, our nanny, found her playing with her feet!! So fun!!! We are getting their pictures taken very soon, so stay tuned for some adorable shots 🙂

Here is Hayden in her new Cars shirt 🙂 She loves it!! Isn’t she looking so big and grown up lately. I can’t believe her baby-hood is fading far away and her is this beautiful little girl that has blossomed right under our noses.

horray: mopped all my floors today
booooo: i think i broke my toe
