Paintball-A-Palooza

My birthday falls three days after Christmas and every year it is hard to get my pals together but usually we do something fun to celebrate. This year just did not work out. With Christmas parties, new years parties and the girls getting sick, we were just all a little overwhelmed. My parents came and celebrated with me on the day and bj’s parents let us get out but I still wanted to do something fun.

So this past weekend we got to go play paintball and it was so much fun. Many of us had never played before and were a little skittish of the pain that would be felt from getting hit. After the first couple of hits, we all got over it and had a blast. I must say today though that my bruises look hideous and are very tender to the touch!
It was fun to try something new though and I had a great time with my friends. Thanks guys!!!

The whole gang after our pizza lunch (I scheduled my party before our diet. BJ and I did good though, we only ate two little pizza slices and then had salad and water!)
This is Philip shooting BJ before he shoots me…what a friend 😉 (all the husbands were out for their wives. How rude!)

Here is BJ trying to get some cover from the fire

Billy…one of the veteran paintballers….he had me worried going into it. He was a die hard, rolling, diving and nailing us.

Me and Alexis, we may look tough, we were scared 🙂

All of the eligible paintball participants. ( 4 of my friends were pregnant this year and were unable to come or play…bake those babies, mama’s)

What a friend! Tara was not as enthusiastic about getting shot at as most of us, but she was such a sport. Thanks for trying something new! I won’t put you through that torture again, I promise 😉

Adventure in Austin

This weekend my parents and I loaded up to make the trip to Austin to see my oldest friend (by oldest I mean the one I’ve known the longest) get married. The trip started off yummy as we stopped in at a new place called Egg cetera and ate a scrumptious breakfast. My dad set up the directions on the TomTom and we headed out. So we are driving along on the highway and all of the sudden the directions tell us to take a back road, which looks like a small dirt road that no one travels on. So we Uturn, since we missed it and head off road. We continue driving all the while saying, this can’t be right, we should turn around. We keep going and the dirt road is kind of winding like some sort of three-wheel trail. Anyway, I’m not really paying attention and me and mom are in the very back seat of their durango. All of the sudden we hit some bumps and bounce around a little, then a few more and bounce a little more, and then the third set we are bouncing so high my head touched the roof. It was so funny and we were all laughing so hard! My dad said that he would have slowed down but when we hit the first bumps he realized we were going too fast for that terrain and if he would have put the brakes on he may have lost control. Luckily there were no more but it was quite memorable! By taking that road we did end up saving a lot of time, plus we had an adventure.

We had a great trip together and even though the wedding was outdoors with temperatures in the low 40’s, it was nice to see my friend on her big day!

Another great year!

Yesterday I woke up to my loving hub and Hayden singing Happy Birthday to me! It was so sweet. They had already gone to the store that morning and brought me some beautiful flowers, cards and breakfast! Yummy pankcakes, eggs, biscuits and chocolate milk. Yum. We ate and opened my cards where I discovered an itunes gift card (always awesome to get new music) and a new laptop of my choice! I’ve been wanting one for a while and now my computer is getting older and older and its nearing its end. So that was a great gift!

Me with Ella and Hayden

Ella had been running fever the night before with a bad stomach bug so we all stayed home and my parents brought us lunch from Olive Garden and gave me a new running shirt, a bluetooth, and a stamp with a hummingbird (love it). Then we ate some yummy cake that Hayden picked out for me. Strawberry crunch cake. She told me she was going to get me a Dora cake just like hers but decided on a different one instead.
Then we layed all the girls down and my inlaws came over and let BJ and I get out so we hit the theater and went for a double header 🙂 We saw Marley and Me and then Valkerie. Both were really good, especially Marley! Soooo reminded me of my first dog Callie.

I still have some birthday plans that are coming up but we had to put them off for a while because my birthday falls at a really hard time. So in a few weeks we are going to do what I had planned! More on that later!

Tis the season of Christmas..in other words…What a month!

We have had such a busy month that I’ve been struggling keeping up with blogging about it.
The 13th we started our Christmas celebrations with my family, since Sean and Alexis were spending Christmas in California. It was lots of fun and felt a little funny getting presents so early. And the weather here hasn’t helped out much. Its been in the 70’s for so long, then we will get a couple of days of 40ish weather and then back to 70’s. Its a wonder we haven’t all been sick from the changing. Anyway, we got some fun presents, including a TomTom. Her name is Bonnie and she gets us where we need to go. Hayden got decked out in press-on nails and roller skates!
We trekked over to a big Texas Christmas tradition and went to Santa’s Wonderland. We had never been before, so on one of the cold nights, we bundled up the kids and went. It was lots of fun and they loved all the lights!
Ella & Mommy
Preslyn & Hayden
The “magical” tunnel
As we were driving under one of the lighted tunnels, Hayden said in almost a whisper, “This is so magical!” It was precious.
Then we celebrated my brother-in-law’s engagement at their party, then had Christmas eve with my extended family on my dad’s side, went to our church Christmas eve service, celebrated our own Christmas, celebrated with BJ’s family and then celebrated with my mom’s family! Whew! Lots of celebrating, eating, giving and receiving went on!!!
Christmas morning, Hayden was so cute…she ran down and came to our room and squealed, “Santa came and ate all his cookies!” (We had told her that is how she would know if he came. So we got everyone up and ready and went in the other room where the tree with presents was and she was so excited. She was opening presents left and right and it was all a bit overwhelming at times, but it is fun while she is so excited about it. Next year I can’t imagine the commotion that will take place with all three of the girls in the mix of it all. For Christmas, the twirls each got their first molars and Preslyn started walking full time. The teeth were grueling for them. We have had many rough nights, fever, cranky babies, diarrhea, and one stomach virus. Thank goodness we got two teeth out of it!

Pres so happy for Christmas!

Sorry we have no pictures of the dad! He was doing all the picture taking! He is there don’t worry!!!
Here is Preslyn’s new trick! She is seriously such a monkey!
It was great to see everyone and we had a wonderful holiday! I loved having all of my girls home, especially Ella. It was so fun to spend her first Christmas home with her. I definitely don’t take that for granted.
The day after Christmas, Hayden came down again and came in our room and said, “Santa ate all his cookies AGAIN!!” we both laughed and tried to explain that Santa wouldn’t be back for a while.
We were blessed beyond belief and are looking towards a year with big goals and dreams and hopes for our family. We are praying for God to change us in the ways that we need to be changed, to help us accomplish our goals to be better believers, spouses, parents, friends, listeners, motivators and helpers. We are striving to reach our fullest potential in everything we do and want to make strides toward those things in 2009.

Can’t decide on dinner???

Let me help you out then. Today for lunch I decided to try Elaine’s recommended recipe for Taco Soup. The ingredients alone made my mouth start watering, but as the soup heated up on the stove Hayden kept coming in saying, ” Mommy that smells delicious. ” poor girl had a really hard time waiting for it to cook.

THIS IS DELICIOUS!!! I was not disappointed whatsoever, and it is really easy to make. I added some cornbread on the side and wa-la, a yummy cold-weather meal in about 30 minutes! Can’t beat that!

It does make a lot so invite some friends over to share it with you 🙂

Welcome Home Preslyn, Welcome Home

Today is one year since we brought that little five pound baby home! You can read all about it and see the pics here.

That girl is such a monkey and brings us so much joy and many laughs. She has dance moves like you’ve never seen and gives the best backward hugs ever. Her little eyes will melt you in a second and her love of cuddling warms our hearts!

We love you little Prebbie 🙂

We can’t imagine our lives without little bitty you!

Christmas Open House

Welcome to our home!

Since you’re not here in person, I’ll go ahead and sip some hot cocoa for you 🙂

Well…what are you waiting for??? Come on in!

The consensus voted that this is more of a Gandalf than a Santa….I think he’s cute!

We’ve acquired quite a collection of Christmas cards already! Thanks for thinking of us guys!

The table by the door with the musical trinkets that Hayden loves

the little figurine we got last year for the girls

The piano…Hayden put all the nativity set together and it was very cute!

Our mantle….sorry you’re not here to warm up by the fire! I love having a gas fireplace this year that I can turn on in two seconds.

This is our new tree this year. We needed a skinny one for right by the stairs. It is a girly tree with all pinks and metallics on it. The skirt is fuchsia sparkly and very appropriate for our three little princesses! We are so thankful to celebrate with Ella this year!

The tree in my office

I’m in a bird phase right now and found these little ornaments that I loved! Aren’t they so cute!

Our blue metallic wreaths

The table and tree in my office are still a work in progress, as are our stockings. We used to have a set of stocking hangers that spelled out “NOEL” well since we had three children instead of two that doesn’t really work! 🙂 SO, I’m on the hunt for some hangers that I love. Because our stockings are so cute! So….more pictures to come!

This is our first year to do the Christmas Tour of Homes so hopefully it will get better every year.

Hope you had a nice stay…come again soon 🙂
