Update on Hayden

I’ve been so bad about taking pictures of Hayden lately. Seems like she is just growing up right under our noses! Lately she has been really entertaining herself alot. She will just go upstairs and close her door and play in her room for 30 or 45 minutes at a time. It is really nice for mommy 🙂 She loves reading her books and building her puzzle. She is learning to sing all the words to lots of songs…she knows “Jesus Loves Me”, “Mr. Sun”, “Mary Had a Little Lamb”, “Clean Up” from Barney, “Rock-A-Bye Baby”, “Deep and Wide” “Prepare the Way” (CFNI) and “ChimChimminy” from Mary Poppins (her all time favorite movie).

Recently someone gave her a doll and she actually named it herself. She calls her “Grace”. We don’t know anyone named Grace that she sees so it was very cute that she picked that name. She carries her around and talks to her and rocks her. Lately she makes me hold Grace in one arm and her in the other and she wants to be rocked and wants me to sing Rock-A-Bye Baby. But if anyone takes Grace away from me, Hayden pops up and gets upset. She will only lay down if I have Grace too 🙂

Her preferred method of transportation is running. She runs everywhere now and you can see that she has slimmed down alot. She walks up and down the stairs like a pro and is very fast about it. She loves to swim and is fearless in the pool, which is sort of scary for me because she will just plunge in with no one waiting for her. She whistles (though no sound comes out), snaps (from Mary Poppins 🙂 ) , tries to help mommy by sweeping and loves when I put her up on the dryer and let her throw the clothes into the washer. She is such a little helper. My favorite phrase of hers right now is “Cooft Out” which means scoot out or scoot over. It is so cute when she says it but no one but BJ and I ever know what she is saying. She also says “hold you” when she wants to be held and I love that. She is a talker!! She talks all day long and will repeat anything that you say. It can get a little overwhelming even if you are used to it. She is very animated and talks with her head. She will move it all around to make a point. I will have to try to get that on video because it is so cute. She knows almost every body part and she knows most of her animals and the sounds that they make. She knows her foods and the ones that are her favorites (Chicken, fries, cereal, grapes, juice, ice cream). When she doesn’t know what something is she will say “what’s that?” and wait for you to tell her and then she will remember it. She has an excellent memory.

She is learning how to be a ham. Oh man, she can work a crowd. She knows the things that people think are funny and she will make the cutest faces when she knows you think she is funny.

She is really doing well with using a fork and spoon. For a while there she would turn the spoon right when she would get it to her mouth, so we had more food on her than in the mouth. But she has finally gotten the hang of it. Right now I’m working on teaching her how to use a big girl cup. She always tips it too fast and all of it pours out on her. She’ll get it eventually. We are also starting to work with her on potty training. She has gone two times in the potty. So exciting! And soon we are going to transition her into her big girl bed.

I think that she is getting her two year molars because she has not been herself lately. She is so cranky and whiney. That is usually the sign we get before teeth.

Today I had to trim her bangs because those of you that have seen her lately know that her hair is constantly in her eyes. And she won’t move it so it just hangs. So today I trimmed it and I think it looks so cute!!

She starts school in September two days a week and I’m so excited for her. I think it is going to be amazing to see her learn things in a group setting and develop little friendships. I’m glad she will be starting before the babies get here so she won’t feel like she is getting kicked to the curb. I think it will help her with the transition of everything that is going to happen in our lives.

I have an appointment tomorrow so I’ll update after that 🙂

Hayden’s Bathroom

I finally finished the small task of painting and redecorating her little tiny bathroom. A job that could have been done in a weekend, but turned into a two month ordeal due to my nasty virus that struck right in the middle. Thanks Mom for helping me finish!

Now I just need some wall art and I’ll be done 🙂

Celebrating 4 years in New York

Our trip was so much fun. I think we probably walked over 100 blocks. The city was everything I thought it would be and more. I think the thing that amazed me was how huge everything was and how packed together the buildings were. On TV the city looks big, but when you are driving in and you see the whole thing it stretches all the way to the left and right and you can’t see anything but city. It was amazing!

We saw so much stuff. When we first arrived at the airport, we had been trying to decide how to get to our hotel. BJ doesn’t do well in Cabs and the subway would have been too long of a drive. So we decided that we would just do the airport shuttle or taxi if we absolutely had to. So we walk into the airport and there is a guy standing there with our name and I was like, um Bj that guy has a sign with your name on it. do you think that the hotel sent a car or something?? and I looked at him and he had a silly grin on his face and I knew he had done that. He had rented us a LIMO to ride into the city for our anniversary.
So much fun and a lot less scary then cabs! We arrived early evening so we checked into our beautiful hotel ,The Waldorf Astoria, right on Park Avenue. And when we got there they had strawberries and champagne for us since it was our anniversary. I thought that was a very nice gesture! That night we went out to eat at this place called Goodburger. And it was good indeed.

Friday walked all around and saw Times Square, the Chrysler Building, the MTV building, Macy’s, the Empire state building, Radio City, Rockefeller Center, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, the hugest Toys R Us ever (it had a Ferris wheel inside of it), we walked down Madison avenue and saw all the nice high end stores and then later that evening we ordered out from Fred’s at Barney’s. Yum!

St. Paul’s Cathedral

Me at the top of the empire state building

The next day we went down by subway to Ground Zero. I was overwhelmed at how big the area that was wiped out was. You think in your mind two buildings but really it was more than that. And the size of the site is unbelievable. We saw the plans for what they are doing for a memorial and it is going to be amazing. I want to go back when it is finished to see Freedom tower. Then we walked over to the esplanade and saw the statue of liberty, which surprisingly was a lot smaller than I always imagined.

We saw Ellis Island and some smaller parks that were beautiful. Then we went to this massive store called Century 21. It was like the biggest Ross/Kohls you have ever seen. They had great prices on everything, including high end brands. Bj got a really nice watch and some shoes for his father’s day gift and I got Hayden some pink curious George pj’s 🙂 That is when the trip took a strange turn. We left Century 21 and walked around some more and saw the place that George Washington said his oath as the first president and we saw Wall street. Then we started heading to the subway tunnel nearest to us. When we got there it was closed, so we found the next one on the map (which happened to be right next to Century 21) and started making our way there. On the way there, we passed a drug store and BJ needed some Dramamine for the subway ride so we stopped in there. I had been using the same card for the whole trip and when I got my wallet out to pay it was gone. I FREAKED! I knew that I had put my wallet back right away in the store and then hadn’t taken it out since then. So I was thinking that the cashier must have never given it back to me and I just got caught up in paying and signing and whatever and didn’t realize. So we sat down and I checked all my pockets, and my entire purse and then decided to call Century 21. They looked for my card but could not find it. My heart sunk. Then the guy asked me one more time what department I had last been in and I told him men’s shoes and he said, Oh, I checked women’s shoes. So he comes back on the line and they have my card. I almost screamed! Thank you Jesus. So we hurried back and got it and then the second we came out it started pouring down rain. We had to run to three different subway tunnels because the one we were trying to get to was closed, as were the next two. So by the time we finally found one that was open we were soaked to the bone and freezing cold. I’m just glad that the trip didn’t turn totally bad and me never find my card and have to go through that whole ordeal!

Sunday we slept in because we were both so exhausted. Then we got out and walked to Central Park and it was so beautiful.

We saw the Plaza Hotel, which is where I really wanted to stay but they have closed it to turn it into private residences. (This is the hotel on Home Alone2) It was really nice. We also saw Grand Central Station. Then we walked over to Serendipity 3. The restaurant from Serendipity. It was so cute and we had their famous Frozen Hot Chocolate. SOOOOOO Yummy!!!

We found out that we were sitting at the table that Jim Carey likes to sit at when he comes there. Pretty cool!

One of the best parts of the trip was the amazing weather. There was NO humidity and the first day it was actually chilly at first. I was in heaven! It was like in the 80’s yet it felt wonderful! I never broke a sweat!

Something funny I thought was that you know how we have the Texas Whopper at Burger King, well in New York you can order the Texas Whopper except they call it the Western Whopper. Makes us sound like such cowboys.

And lastly…while we were there we picked a second boy name…whoohoo….Bj hasn’t said for sure that is the name, but I LOVE it. So if we find out we are for sure having boys we only have to think of one more middle name for the second son because we already have the first name. Whoohoo!! I love knowing their names already 🙂 Then we can start figuring out how to tell all of you 🙂 and no…it won’t be early or anything!

We’re ba-ack!

Well I had my appointment and everything is on the up and up. Baby’s heartrates were at 184 and 167. So one is more active than the other one 🙂 They are measuring perfectly and were so cute! They wiggled around a few times while we saw them and that is always fun! Oh and I lost two pounds 🙂 🙂 I don’t think that ever happened with my pregnancy with Hayden.

We saw that they are definitely in one sac so my risk factor is pretty high. We have to see a specialist at Baylor Medical Center soon to just get a consult and make sure from his perspective that everything matches up to my OB’s. All of the risks are kind of freaking us out but we know that God is in control as always and He is the only one that can see these babies through. We appreciate all of your prayers and hope that you don’t stop! We want them to stay in there as long as they can.

The other thing is that I will definitely have a C-section and they will take them at 34 weeks as long as the need does not arise to do it earlier. Pray that they don’t come earlier. So 34 weeks is Thanksgiving day 🙂 November 22 so you may all want to update your baby guesses! There is no chance for a January baby and probably not even a December one.

Lastly……………………….we think they are boys…..the ultrasound tech said it would be very unlikely to see what they were, but when she started poking around we both saw a little “something something” on both of them….so I go back in two weeks for another ultrasound and maybe we’ll know for sure then. That was like the one scenario that we didn’t have a second potential name for…..so we’ll be putting our thinking caps on now 🙂 And Mel, yes…I do go more often and get ultrasounds every time since I am high risk.

I’m off to finish packing now 🙂 I’m so excited about New York!!!!

T minus 24 hours until………..

30.3 New York City - Yellow cabs on Times Square - USA-New York

Our anniversary and BABYMOON!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!! We decided to combine the two this time around since I don’t really know what the end will hold for me this time and I don’t want to be double the size I was last babymoon 🙂 So we are taking a trip to the Big Apple! I’ve never been and am SO EXCITED!

I have an appointment today and another ultrasound so I’ll post later on with all those details! It will probably be until this evening because my appt. isn’t until this afternoon.

The Weekend of Deborah

Oh this weekend was GLORIOUS!!!! Deb and I went and used our joint Mother’s Day gift from BJand went to the spa to be pampered! It was wonderful to say the least. Neither of us had ever had a facial before so that was a totally new experience and then we had manicures and pedicures 🙂 Fun times!!! (THANK YOU BJ) Then we hit up Olive Garden which was super yummy! We don’t get lots of chances to just hang out just us two, so its always nice to catch up and spend fun time together 🙂

Then! that night all of us girls got together to celebrate Deb’s big 24th birthday at Berryhill. Yum again. We had a great ole time and Deb got some super cute gifts!!

Yeah for a weekend of Deb!

New Beginnings

So everyone out there I just want to send a shoutout to my friend Jamie and her new beau, Billy.

Aren’t they adorable! 🙂
