Pictures of us

Hayden January ’08

One of our many NICU visits to see our “annabella Ella” as BJ calls her 🙂 He wanted to name her annabella or annabelle but I didn’t agree…

And here is the newest addition to our family…ok not quite official yet, but they are engaged :)

Hey fans!

I’m sorry for the lack of posting, I’ve been getting calls requesting an update so here I am 🙂 We have had no internet since Saturday so I have been really behind on everything, plus we have all been under the weather a bit, except for Preslyn. She is as healthy as ever. I took her for her second round of synagis yesterday (that’s the shot to hopefully prevent RSV) and her weight check and she is 7lb. 7oz! Her big sister Ella is 8lbs.4oz. and progressing beautifully. Today she is up to 47cc’s per feed so she’s nearly3/4 of the way to full feeds. She needs to be at about 75 or so and tolerating them good in order to come home, which may be very close to the time she needs her second surgery.

I’m sorry I have no pictures right now but check back later today and I’ll try to get some up. I’m on a different computer and don’t have pictures on it to post.

Hayden started back to school for this month and then we are pulling her out for the rest of the semester. She loves it, but we just can’t risk her bringing home those nasty germs. So she will start back in the fall. She is such a little mommy to Preslyn and is constantly trying to help. They are doing well together and we are so glad we have had no problems with jealousy.

I promise to get pictures up soon! We’ve been busy little bees around here. Hope you all are doing well!

Ella and Preslyn….they both have this worried look alot…so cute

Hello hello!!!!

Well big news for the munson babe…Ella started feeds yesterday!!! She started at a mere 5cc’s which is about a teaspoon. It was so sad because it barely filled up the nipple of a bottle and so it took her about 5 sucks and it was gone. Such a teaser for her. But she is handling them well so they went up to 9cc’s and are going to see how she does with that. The other plus was that she was able to go straight back to bottle feeding and not by a feeding tube.

Her incision is healing good and she is off her breathing tube and her morphine. She also started stooling into her little ostomy bag which is a great sign that everything is starting to work like it is supposed to. She’s a little less than 6 weeks out from her second surgery so there is a slight chance she could come home in between but it really depends on how quickly they are able to advance her feeds, which will not be quickly because they don’t want her body to relapse.

She is just as cute as ever! We took Hayden to see her this past Sunday and she got to hold her and love on her a bit.

Preslyn is a doll as always. She is up to 3 1/2 ounces at a time and is supposed to go back for a weight check and her second RSV shot this week. I am anxious to see how much she has gained. She is starting to look less preemie to me and more newborn baby. But don’t get me wrong she is still tiny compared to Hayden as a baby! We are loving having her home though. She is holding her head up really good most of the time and starting to give us a few 5 hour spans here and there of sleep.

Hayden is a tornado!! She is into everything and energy beyond belief! Poor girl has a new bump or bruise it seems every day because she is fearless. Tonight she jumped off her toy and landed on the ground belly-flop style, but she was holding one of her toy spoons and it nearly poked her eye out. She has a nice big whelp under her eye now. It scared me to death. I thought for sure she was going to have damaged her eye.

Other than that all is the same in our household. Just trying to recoop the house from the holidays, going through things to get rid of and getting ready for taxes. I’ve been doing inventory on my Mary Kay, boxing up hayden’s clothes she is too big for and trying to keep some order to this home. Its not easy with three kiddos, even though I only have two here at home, the other one still demands a big chunk of my time to drive down there and see her. So if you ever stop by, please excuse our mess 🙂

A day with Hayden

Before Preslyn came home Hayden and I got to have a girls day together just the two of us. It was so much fun and provided some good one-on-one bonding for us since we hadn’t really had just good, fun, quality time together in a while. I think it made her feel 100% special 🙂

We started off the day primping, with jewelry, nails, hair bows and cute clothes….

then away we went to the Children’s Museum. She had so much fun playing in the Dinosaur pit, digging for bones, then with the trains and all of the other fun stuff.

Then we walked over and ate some bourbon chicken, which she loved. She felt so big eating at the table without a high chair.

We swung by and got her hair cut all cute and of course she had several “pops” (suckers) during that 🙂

Then we rode on the carousel. Such fun for both of us!! Hayden kept waving out to the crowd like she was a princess.

We walked over to the pet store and she looked at all of the puppies and then we went to Pottery Barn Kids and Hayden decided to sample all of the beds. She even took her shoes off and got under the covers. The sales ladies thought it was hilarious! Then she played with all of the play dishes and tried out every rocking animal (horses, puppies, lambs) that was in the store.

After a long day we headed home totally pooped! I look forward to many more days like we had that day 🙂 It definitely helped take some of the sting out of the 47 days of her life that I sadly missed out on while cooped up in the hospital.

Birthday suit

So for my birthday today, Hayden decided she thought it was appropriate to greet me at her door in HER birthday suit. Yes, she was standing there with her PJ’s in a pile and her diaper close by…filled with poop.

Happy Birthday to ME!

I’ve got some pics to update but somehow took them in a different format so I can’t get them to download off my camera. I’ll have to work on that. This first one shows how she has been losing her hair since they have to shave it off to give her iv’s in her head. Hopefully her picc line will stay in and not infected this time so she doesn’t have to have anymore head lines.

I just want to thank everyone for their prayers today. Ella went into surgery around 10:30am and we were called back in at 12 saying she was out. That is wonderful considering they prepared us for a 3-5 hour procedure. Every prayer that was prayed was answered today. We prayed for a quick surgery DONE, we prayed for her to not have her colon removed (She made it out with over half of her colon still in tact!!!), we prayed for no surprises, there were none, we prayed for her to be taken off the ventilator post-surgery (she was, but then had to be intubated so she could have some meds for pain. not really a big deal, we are just glad she is not in pain and not having to work hard to recover and breathe.) Once again, we serve a big God and He has once again walked us through a scary situation and we are so thankful for the outcome. Ella was resting peacefully when we left her this evening and they are hoping if her recovery is smooth, that they will start feeds up again very small in about a week.

They only removed two portions of her colon and a small piece of her small intestine, that happens to be attached to her appendix, so that came on out as well. They gave her an ostomy, which is basically her intestine is open to the outside of her body and her stools will come through that and into a bag while her colon heals. This will help prevent infection from her stools passing through the surgical area. She will have another surgery in about 8 weeks to put the intestine back inside and remove the bag.

It was a long tiring day and surprisingly I held up really well and when the surgery was over and I called to give my parents an update that is when I finally broke down, just out of relief. There is nothing like knowing your precious little child is undergoing surgery that could possibly turn out leaving her with long term side effects. But those never came into play and for that I am so thankful. We are relieved to finally be past this surgery and move on to a full recovery resulting in her coming home to us!! We can’t wait!

Getting her all fixed up

Sorry for no updates. With the holidays its been a whirlwind as usual. We are loving having Preslyn home!

We are up at the hospital right now. Today Ella is in surgery to correct all of the blockage due to her previous stomach issues. She is in there right now. She went in at 10am this morning and may be in for 3-5 hours. Please be in prayer with us as this is stressful to have our child in surgery. I know she is covered by the Lord and He is directing the surgeons hands, but it is still rough to try to pass the time just waiting.

I will update more later…we appreciate all of your prayers, especially today!
