300th Post!!!

I’m sad due to the fact that Melissa did not update her blog. Hopefully that doesn’t mean that you couldn’t find out what the babe is.

My enter (pinkie) finger is hurting because I slammed it accidentally so its making for some interesting typing.

Tonight I made lamb & tomato curry with couscous. Yum….it was really good but it was a little spicy for our liking. BJ doesn’t like spicy foods at all, but I do typically, but this one was a bit over the top.

Started watching “end of the spear” but bj fell asleep and it was pretty slow moving. So I suppose I will finish it by myself sometime. I really thought it would be more interesting from the get-go, but maybe it picks up later in the movie.

Oh…yes, also Happy birthday to my BIL….20 years old!! whoohoo!! Live it up in the UK!

This is a strange post but I am tired, wanted to jot a few things down and now i’m off to bed….I guess Mel is not posting tonight…sniff.

Drama-Mamma

All I gots to say is too much drama….sheesh!

Birthday fun!

Well Hayden’s Birthday was a success…it was a lot of work, but so much fun and very memorable for me and bj. She got lots of nice things and has been playing with her new things…yet right now she is walking around with three balloons that were left over saying “ba-oooon”. I love it when she knows words and can say them. Anyway, we took tons of pics and so did the grandparents so I have compiled them and put them in an album for your viewing pleasure 🙂 Enjoy!!!

Also a neat thing that happened…Jordan had her sweet little girl, Hallie Harson on Hayden’s Birthday…what a fun thing!! Welcome to the world little Hallie (and for those that are wondering, it is Hal-lie with an emphasis on the Hal, not Haylie) 🙂

Happy 1st Birthday baby girl!!!

Dear Hayden,

I can’t believe it has been a year of your little life already. We have had so many wonderful memories already and can’t wait to see and make many many more with you.

Since the second you came into the world at the early hour of 3:44 am, daddy and I haven’t been the same. I didn’t think I could love someone so much that I had just barely met, but you proved me wrong. I remember you warm red body and big eyes scanning the new world that you entered in. And those feet…they were so cute and so big!! Your tiny cry that was such a great sound…the first few times 🙂 I remember the day we brought you home was the first cool day of the year, and the weather had changed to fall.

Now a year later, here you are, walking and talking…eating everything in sight. You love music so much and dance everytime you hear it. You love the Backyardigins, Barney and Dora! You also like Veggie tales and Bath time!! You love to splash in the water and say “kick, kick, kick”.

You are truly the joy of our lives and we haven’t been the same since you came into this world. Have the Happiest Day ever! We love you so much our precious girl!

Better???

Did I fix the pics?? They look clear on my screen so I dont’ know what the deal is. Blogger wont upload any of the pics and photobucket must be messing them up somehow.

Two minutes to blog….over and out.

Just a quick post…I am so busy finalizing preparations for Hayden’s birthday but I just wanted to update on a couple of things…first, the Race for the Cure was so much fun, as usual!! Next year we are going to double our team if not more!! Everyone needs to come and start fundraising now so we can raise lots of money for the Cure!!! Here are some crazy pics of us girls 🙂 We need guys to participate next year too! We are going to enter the family race so we can bring our kiddos, dads, everyone 🙂

Also, Hayden’s eye is healing really nicely and should be normal by Saturday. SHe has been zooming around through the house and her favorite thing is when people act like they are chasing her…she squeels so loud and tries to run. Its so cute! She is also learning lots of new words, like Blue, Pink, Nap (which she prounouces MaP –emphasis on the P) ha! oh and so many more. We are so excited that her birthday is this weekend….I was reminiscing last night that today last year would have been the day that I started getting my first contractions…then tomorrow is when I woke up with them and they never died down!! Whoo hoo…can’t believe its been a year 🙂
Of course one cute pic of her 🙂 I don’t want the blog patrol…cough cough…courtney…cough cough to get mad at me ….lol

The "Real" Cost of Raising Kids

I have seen repeatedly the breakdown of the cost of raising a child(personally I think it is more, MUCH more) but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It’s nice, really nice!!

In 2004 the government calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle, upper-income family.Talk about sticker shock! That doesn’t even touch college tuition. But$160,140 isn’t so bad if you break it down.

It translates into:
$8,896.66 a year, $741.38 a month, or $171.08 a week. That’s a mere$24.44 a day! Just over a dollar an hour.

Still, you might think the best financial advice says don’t have children if you want to be “rich.” It is just the opposite. What do you get for your $160,140?

Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
Glimpses of God every day.
Giggles under the covers every night.
More love than your heart can hold.
Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
A hand to hold, usually covered with jam.
A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites, building sand castles, and skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain.
Someone to laugh yourself silly with no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.
For $160,140, you never have to grow up. You get to finger-paint, carve pumpkins, play hide-and-seek, catchlightning bugs, and never stop believing in Santa Claus.
You have an excuse to keep: reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh, watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to Disney movies, and wishingon stars.
You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, handprints set in clay for Mother’s Day, and cards with backward letters forFather’s Day.
For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof, taking the training wheels off the bike, removing a splinter, filling the wading pool, coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless. You get a front row seat to history to witness the first step, firstword, first bra, first date, and first time behind the wheel.
You get to be immortal.
You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you’re lucky, along list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren.
You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications and human sexuality that no college can match. In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there with the best. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.

Race day is this Saturday!!! It’s going to be exciting!!

Dear Friends and Family,
I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the Komen Houston Race for the Cure on September 30, 2006 in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Komen Houston Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure.
Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of myparticipation in the Race or contributing generously to Komen Houston. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in Houston and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause – you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Thank you so much for your time and support in the fight against breast cancer! Every step counts!

It’s not too late to join my team or sponsor me!!!
