Christmas Pancho

Whew, it has been crazy over in my neck of the woods. That’s why I haven’t posted much. Friday was our first Christmas program at church. It went really well and there was a nice audience too. Then Saturday BJ and I went separate ways and knocked out our Christmas shopping. Then Sunday was my parents 25th anniversary celebration (their anniversary was Monday) and so that was really nice. We had a reception for them at church and then lunch with family that afternoon. I was pooped from the weekend let me tell ya. Then Monday Hayden started sounding congested. I thought she might just be teething, but Tuesday she sounded a little worse and by Wednesday I was concerned, so I took her to the doctor yesterday and good thing I did. What we all thought, including the nurse, was just a “teething cold” turned out to be a respiratory virus called RSV. They were concerned about her, because for an adult RSV is no big deal but for an infant it is like asma. THey said is she had not come in she could have been in the ICU by this weekend. I was freaking out. She was having a rough time breathing and had developed a cough. Plus she had gotten two ear infections from it. What a bummer. So they gave her an antibiotic for the ears, a steroid to decrease the inflammation in her lungs and a breathing machine to do every 4 hours. Let me tell ya, a two month old baby does not like a mask held over her face for 15 minutes. Even if it does have a purple rhinocerous face on it.

So it has been a long couple of days, and poor thing is sick for her first Christmas. So we don’t know what our plans will be right now. As of now we are just going to stay home because she is contageous and plus she doens’t need to be out and about. Oh well. Just keep her in your prayers. The good thing is she has been all smiles through the whole ordeal. What a little content baby. Happy even when she can barely breathe.

All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth

Well we have finally been cured of sickness 🙂 First I got sick with a cold, then bj got some sort of stomach thing and was throwing up for like 5 days. Poor Hayden, I was so worried she would get something, then Saturday BJ and I both felt better and then Hayden started sounding sniffley. Poor thing, Sunday she just got worse sounding. I hated for her not to feel good, but she was such a trooper and just kept grinning at me. So the good thing was that she wasn’t running fever. The doctor put her on a decongestent. It crossed my mind that maybe she was teething, but I didn’t know for sure. Then last night she was just having a rough time. I feel like I suctioned her nose about 100 times. This morning, same thing, still happy but sounding horrid. So I lifted up her little lip to see if I saw any signs of teething and sure enough, there it was…her left front top tooth is poking through at me 🙂 Her first tooth!!! Oh my!! She is so young. But at least she was a trooper through it and now we know why she has sounded sick. Her first tooth for Christmas!!!

I hope you all have a wonderful week and a beautiful and glorious Christmas!!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

This weekend we finally went and got our Christmas tree. We found the perfect one, and brought it back. Then we started decorating it. Oh how fun. I love Christmas. I am doing a Red and Gold theme this year and so it was fun to finally get it all decorated. I am still working on it a little, but it will be finished soon. I will post a pic when it is.

Also, great news…I had been thinking about getting a job that I could do mostly from home but I couldn’t really figure out what to do. Sunday my brother called me to ask me if I wanted to work for his company. Suddenly a position had become available and it is so flexible with my schedule and I can bring Hayden with me 🙂 The company is run by some of my family so it is perfect for what I was looking for. I only have to work 2 days a week and get paid a salary. The only bummer part is that I have to drive to Port Arthur at first…but they are looking for an office building for me between woodlands and conroe, so that will be really convenient.

Anyway, I’m excited! Plus I’ll get to see Sean more 🙂 I am going to check it all out tomorrow.

Have a great week everyone!

December sickies have found me

Well I am sick..have been since Tuesday. I woke up with a nasty sore throat and then that progressed into a head cold. Poor Hayden, hasn’t got to have much attention from Mommy lately since I try to stay away from her and not get her sick. She’s had lots of swing time 🙂 Good thing she loves it. She still has been sleeping through the night and that has been good for me.

Well I’m bummed because we still don’t have a Christmas tree or any sort of Christmas decorations up other than a wreath on the door. I bought some really fun ornaments and ribbon to make bows with. I am doing a red and gold theme this year…but it has yet to happen. I hate getting everything up late, because then you just have to take it all down like 2 days later. UGH!!! I wanted to have everything done last weekend, but that didn’t happnen. Oh well. Hopefully I will get well soon, and then I can get everything ready for Christmas. Good news is I almost finished all my shopping yesterday. I do most of it online, so that makes it alot easier. Now I just have a few little things to pick up that obviously are not online.

Well I am going to take a nap. Hayden is at Grammy’s and I am free to rest so I am going to.

First shots and still smiling

Well today we went for Hayden’s 2 month check up. She weighed 11lbs 13oz (75th percentile) and was 23 1/2 inches long…which is a 2 inch jump from last time 🙂 She is still in the 90th percentile for her height! She’s gonna be a tall girl that’s for sure. The doctor said she looked great and not overly chunky for the amount she has been eating, so she gets to start on cereal!!! I can’t believe this! She is growing up so fast! Everything checked out fine, she has had a little cold which she is now over. Then the terrible part…4 shots in her chubby little thighs. She turned deep red and did the silent cry. She only managed to breathe twice during the ordeal. I wanted to bawl right there with her. I soothed her and she was out cold before we even got to the car. What a trooper! Poor thing. She didn’t even see it coming. The doctor also said she could be in the early stages of teething!!! AHHHH! Teeth already!! Oh my goodness! Her little life is just flying by.

So now we are home, she has had her first cereal bottle and seems to love it, had some infant tylenol and is sacked out. What a day she has had already and its not even noon.

In other news, she is an offical crib sleeper and she is in her own room for good!! She has done so well and has been sleeping LONG hours. Its great!!! I had to wake her up this morning to go to the doctor at 8:30. What a bummer, I wonder how long she would have kept sleeping.

This weekend, she stayed with Daddy for one whole night by himself, while I went to College station with my parents, and they did great! She even slept until 5 am for him! Then she stayed with her grandparents while we all went to my cousin’s wedding which was so beautiful!!

Last night we bundled up to go get our Christmas tree, and got there and no one was there to sell us one, so we are going to try again tonight or tomorrow. I have been dying to get my tree up! Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Everyone enjoy this weather that finally feels like December in Texas 🙂

First picture with Santa

Yesterday was so much fun…Hayden was in the best of spirits all day long and she was dressed in festive clothes for Christmas (from Aunt Deb). How fun!! Then last night we bundled her up and took her to the Christmas Celebration in Shenandoah with all my family. It was fun and it was our first Christmas event with Hayden, and we got free food (spaghetti, my fav!!) cider, and a free photo shoot with Santa!! (aren’t her cheeks so cute 🙂 she looks like she is thinking in her brain “Who are YOU!?! “)She was such a trooper waiting in the long line for her first Santa picture. Right when we left she got cranky and slept all the way home. Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Hayden’s Dedication

Yesterday we had Hayden dedicated at church. She was so precious in her little gown, which was mine when I was dedicated. And she did so good. She slept the whole time we were up there on the platform, and then she woke up and got cranky after. 🙂 At least she didn’t cry the entire time we were up there though.

Here are some pics from the special day

Turkey day….minus the turkey

Yesterday was a fun day…long, but fun. It was our first holiday with our Hayden. We took off to College Station for lunch with my family. We had a lot of people this year, and some that don’t normally come to our Thanksgivings. I got to meet a great great aunt of mine, who is the only living relative of her generation. It was neat to see everyone. We even found out that a great great grandmother of mine was named Hayden, therefore, our daughter has a family name, and Elisabeth is also a family name.

We pigged out for lunch and the food was amazing. Alli, I loved all your recipes. You’ll have to send them to me. I don’t eat turkey but there was ham, stuffing, green beans, yams, all sorts of casseroles, and desserts to feed the world. I didn’t get any because we had to leave, but I heard they were awesome!

Then we headed home for dinner with Bj’s family. Again, fun times were had and much food was eaten. Hayden was so tired from the day that she fought her sleep so hard. She finally crashed and then slept all night long.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well. I know I did. I am so thankful for all that the Lord has richly blessed me with. For a wonderful husband and beautiful daughter, a loving family and the best friends ever; for health and shelter; a job that provides all of our needs and the ability to stay home with my baby; I am thankful for each day that I live and for my salvation by His grace. And of course for the best pup ever, Hoobie 🙂
