Getting sucked into craftiness

I have recently found some new crafting blogs that have lit up my crafty fire. http://www.u-createcrafts.com/ and http://www.themotherhuddle.com/ Oh I am so excited about some upcoming projects that I hope will turn out lovely! I recently was given a bunch of fabric, buttons, tools, etc. for sewing and I intend on putting them to great use. I have some cute thoughts for some handmade gifts for the girls’ upcoming birthdays and Christmas and I need to start early so I can get them all worked out.

Dinner’s in the oven, time for a speed blog

Yesterday we started up a new round of p90x. The first round we did great. BJ lost about 30lbs and I lost 7. The second round BJ did great. I’m not sure on his weight results, but he really did great. I slacked off majorly. I was just overwhelmed with launching my business and helping him with his website, so I didn’t do much. So yesterday we both started again. I am excited because I know the results are going to come and yes, its insanely hard, but it feels so great to be finished each day and know I just worked my rear off! Right after our 90 days ends will be the Race for the Cure and Hayden’s birthday so those will be good incentives to push for.

I’m also back to cooking every night and love it. Its hard to plan meals everyday but it is so rewarding to see my whole family chowing down on a healthy meal that they all really like.

Tonight we are having breaded Parmesan Tilapia, boiled red potatos, asparagus and cantelope! YUM!

In Twirl news, Ella has climbed out of her bed twice! 🙂 Lovely. She is also starting to mimick everything people say. She really wants to start talking. She sings songs along with the radio, the best she can, and is just such a joy. Her new good words are “out” and “up”. She also says “Pebbie” for Preslyn and “Chzz” for cheese.

Preslyn has started saying “Out” as well and “puppy” for any dog or other animal. She is loving animals. She squeels anytimes she sees one.

They have both started a new whole shy routine. Its so strange. They will put their heads down and peek out from the corner of their eyes. Or they will just cover their eyes with their hands when they see people they don’t recognize and even sometimes people they do know. On Sunday Preslyn cried her eyes out when we put her in the nursery. It was so sad. She was clinging to me like crazy. I put her in and watched from the window and she stopped almost immediately. All the while Ella stayed right by her side and pat her head from time to time to let her know it was ok. It was precious!

Hayden is growing like crazy lately. She is getting so tall and people that see her are completely shocked that she is only 3. Her new word today was “occupy”. She used it all day long and loves talking like a big girl. It amazes me how many big words she has been learning lately and makes me sad that the toddler days are drawing to a close and little girl days are full speed ahead. Seems like its happened all to quickly for me.

She is going to be going back to school in the fall after a year off, spending quality time with ME 🙂 She is really excited and I’m excited for her. She doesn’t have many friends, that are girls, that are her age and she is really needing that in her little life. So we are all excited for her.

Welp, the buzzer just beeped so its time for the Parm Tilapia!!

Workout update and recipe

We are 4 weeks into our workout program and are seeing results. When we first started we were dying when we would do the workouts, and some of them we couldn’t even finish. Now we can finish every workout and are starting to add harder moves or more weight! Whoohoo! I have lost 6 lbs. and an inch around my stomach, hips and shoulders!! BJ is down 15lbs and I’m not sure on his inches, but he’s doing great! We are learning some healthy meals to make that actually taste good. And things to add to our diet that we never thought of.

Anyway, here is one of our favorite recipes that I wanted to pass on to you 🙂 Hope you like it as much as we did. And! It is healthy so go ahead and try it out!

Pasta Pomodoro
1Tbls. EVOO
1Tbls. chopped garlic
2 Tbls. fat-free chicken broth, low sod.
1/2 cup tomato, peeled and diced
2 oz. whole wheat pasta
6 oz. med. shrimp (we don’t like shrimp, so we sub. chicken)
2 Tbls. basil leaves, chopped

This is my recommended size portion, so I doubled everything and it made enough for all three of us.
All you do is cook your pasta according to the package, while that is cooking, place EVOO and garlic in large saute panfor several minutes until lightly browned. Add chicken broth and tomatoes to pan; simmer for 5-10 min. or until tender. By now your pasta is probably ready, so drain it. Add shrimp to the sauce mixture, or chicken or omit all together. Cook until meat is opaque. Add basil and toss sauce with cooked pasta.

This tastes so good, very similar to capellini pomodoro at Olive Garden! YUM!

p90x…not for the weak at heart (or stomach)

BJ and I started this new workout program last week and it is killer. After the workouts we are literally laying on the floor with not an ounce of energy to even stand back up. We are sticking to the meal plan to a T as well so we are really excited about getting back in shape in the next 90 days and then continuing from there. Its been a definitely lifestyle change with having to prepare every meal plus two snacks per day. And by prepare I don’t mean, slap a sandwich together, I mean full on cooking meals. It takes time and preparation and lots of loads of dishes! Bj has helped me make tons of the meals because it just takes too long without help. I love cooking, but some of these meals take the “fun” out of whipping up a creative tasty meal. But surprising some of them have been delicious. And we have discovered that lots of the veggies we grew up not liking, we now like! The other surprising thing is that we are eating a TON of food, but losing weight. Go figure. Our diet consists of a high protein, fat shredding diet right now. So we are basically eating to feed our muscles right now. Oh what I would give for a bowl of pasta 🙂

Anyway, I’ll post updates about that periodically! We are working out every day (with one day off) plus cooking and cleaning up a storm, so there isn’t much time for much else, but I will try to keep in touch with the outside world as I can.
