Weekend warriors

This weekend we accomplished a lot of stuff. Sadly we still have SOOOO far to go, but our house is starting to take the shape of a home. I still have a month until my goal to complete the unpacking/set-up before the twins’ birthday.

Here is our new entry rug. We love it! It is just the right amount of classy, hip and double plus!! it had a bird in it. I am so into birds right now. I don’t know why but they are so cute!

Then our room finally got set up. Yay! We have a bed again! Still need to hang some stuff on the walls but its a start.

We had our pool drained and cleaned out. It got so bad from the storm! It is back to beautiful now! We also put up our new curtins.

Then the soft tiles came in for the playroom. This was BJ’s project and it turned out really nice. The girls heads will appreciate it the soft cushiness to brace their falls. We also had a garage sale, cleared out some more from the old house and unpacked a bunch of boxes. Sadly, like I said, still soooooo far to go.

Grrrr…….

Bring on the supper

Just wanted you all to see my new fab fridge. I thought it would never come, but after three failed delivery attempts (Let’s not rehash that ridiculousness) it finally came! Oh I was so excited!!! So if you come over, no one is allowed to touch it. Lol…you think i’m joking

Every time I open it I feel like I hear a choir of angels singing “aaaaaaaahhh” in the background!

Last week Deborah and I took the kids to see Veggie Tales Live. We have never seen them live before and it was really fun!

Hayden danced to the songs and of course sang the theme song with them. Afterwards we wanted to take them for ice cream and so we stopped at McDonalds, and of course they had none. So we settled for parfaits, which are healthier. But what’s up with no ice cream??? That has happened to BJ and me about 20 times.

Oh I guess I should tell you why Hayden is wearing a big bandaid in the pictures. Well around 4pm that day, during her nap time, which she was determined not to take one since she was excited about Veggie Tales, she was balancing on her toy box (its built in and she knows not to do this) she slipped and fell and busted her chin open. It was a pretty bad cut. I couldn’t make up my mind whether it was stitch-worthy or not, so I ran over to my neighbor who has three older kids and she looked at it. She thought maybe she would need one, so I went back and forth trying to decide. I didn’t want to go if they were going to just give her a butterfly bandaid, plus we didn’t want to miss VT, so, I decided after talking with her doctor that I thought we would be ok to butterfly bandage it ourselves. I think I made the right call, because it started scabbing about a day later and looks like it is healing pretty good.

Hayden is getting so excited about her birthday. I can’t believe next Tuesday I will have a three year old. She is changing so much and learning so many things. She has really been learning the stories of Daniel and the Lions den, Samson and Delilah, Jonah and the Whale and David and Goliath. Lots of the names are the similar so she usually says, “Can I watch the Veggie tales about Delilath?” And she also says “Samsom”. So cute! She is getting really good about telling us the stories and getting all the details right. She is also getting better at telling the babies apart. Recently she is even starting to really bond with Ella. I can’t wait to see her at her birthday party. She has been talking about it for months!

I think you will all be happy to know that today I finally finished painting my bedroom!! YEah!! Now we can set up our bed and stop sleeping on the floor and couches. Yuck!

Here are the before and afters of it:

So today was pretty accomplishing! I finished painting, had the men come look at a hot water heater that won’t stay lit–translation: no hot water in the master bathroom since the hurricane, I finished mailing Hayden’s birthday invites, and ELLA SAID MAMMA! Finally!!! I thought they would never say it! So hopefully Preslyn will chime in soon too.

That’s pretty much it…oh besides that i cut my hair off. I need to get a pic but I am waiting until I get it colored until I post a pic. Okey doke…have a super Wednesday!

Paint party

The long weekend was perfect to start moving in and painting the rooms that needed to be painted. Several of the walls are really dark so we had to prime them first, which takes forever!!! But we are pleased with the changes so far.

We slept over there on a blow up swimming pool float. It was hilarious. It is the big kind, but the first night we couldn’t get it blown up all the way so it was very uncomfortable. The next night was much better since the battery compressor thing worked. We have been taking a car load over every time we go so slowly our stuff is trickling over. Its very exciting and we are loving our new home!

Here’s the rooms that are totally finished:

The dungeon has become a beautiful office…now i just have to get some stuff in there 🙂

And the laundry room is now a soft yellow. Love it!

AFTER

Much more to do so gotta run. My posts may be slim until we officially move because we are going back and forth and there is no internet at the new house yet. I will try to keep you posted though! We are shooting for Saturday to be our “big move” date, so I’m working hard. I have a lot of painting to do still.

Thank you to my brother for graciously helping us with the office and bringing us some yummy Lupe Tortilla 🙂 !! We had some fun times!

It’s Official!!!

I just wanted to post that we are official homeowners as of 4:30pm today. We celebrated at the same place we got engaged, Black Walnut 🙂 It was so fun and we are so excited.

We all went over there tonight and Hayden ran through the house, climbed in every cabinet, opened every drawer and kept saying “this is so cool”. lol. She is too cute. So now we have some painting to do and then we will hopefully get to move in next weekend!

Busy Little Bees

I’m sorry I haven’t posted in a few days…being that we are moving, my life is pretty much consisting of eating, sleeping, feeding children, packing and trying to do some exercise and fun stuff with the kids here and there 🙂 I’ve also been preparing for big shower this weekend for my brother and his soon-to-be-Mrs. as well as BJ’s best friend, Jared gets married this weekend!

Preslyn started saying DaDa last Friday. I was so bummed, as she was the last child that I had a chance with of saying MaMa first 😦 Oh well, it was very cute though. She and Ella have both been standing up and pulling up on everything. They are everywhere all of the sudden. Today Preslyn was sitting in her crib waiting for me this morning, so they are on the move and learning new things daily. They have also been eating up a storm. They are up to two meals per day now plus their 5 bottles. They are doing really well with the spoon. Ella’s new favorite is “Oswald”. Its so cute. Oswald is an octopus and the show has lots of fun colors and sounds/music. I think the show came out in 2001 but we have been seeing the reruns on Noggin. She absolutely loves it. She will watch with mouth open the whole time. It is a great distractor for them while I make dinner or bottles or whatever.

We’ve been recording the Olympics every day and watching the thing we like. Let’s hear it for Michael Phelps!!! WHOOHOOO!!! Wow, he is amazing! And the mens relay team has been awesome as well. We love swimming and have watched some gymnastics as well. Other faves are soccer, track, softball and syncronized swimming (haven’t seen that yet).

So Hayden is a little confused about the whole moving thing. Every day she asks if we are going to the “orange house” ToDAY?????? I tell her not until we get everything packed up into the boxes…so she will get motivated and ask to help…today she packed 7 books and was done. At her pace we won’t be moved until she graduates college. We’ve been deciding on paint colors for some of the rooms that we want to change…I’ll show you some more of the house….

We finally have purchased our first home together!! We are so excited! The Lord just opened some doors and led us to this house and we are thrilled to start a new chapter of our life here! We still have dreams of building in the future, but for now this is our new home! Yeah!!!
