18 months and Easter

We had such a fun Easter this year. It was surprisingly cold, since it has been so warm lately. But Friday night a major cold front came through and it was soooo cold Saturday and Sunday.

Easter was a long day with no nap for Hayden, but she was a trooper. About halfway through the day the delirium kicked in and she went crazy. She was laughing uncontrollably at the littlest things and at one point my mom and I had to wrestle her to the ground just to get her diaper changed.

But she was so cute in her Easter dress and she hunted eggs like she was an old pro, and found 18!! Then she got several little Easter gifts from her grandparents and family. She got the cutest little stuff. We finally made it home at around 10 that night and it felt like 2am. We were all sooooo tired.

I remembered last Easter was the first day that Hayden crawled and now here she is running and chasing her friends around. What a year of change for her!!

This picture reminds me so much of pictures of myself when I was young.

Last week I picked up my old kitchen set from my parents house for Hayden. She loves it. She has played in her room for up to two hours without even coming out. I will go check on her and she will have all of her little babies in the tea party chairs and be serving them all types of food that she has “cooked” for them. It is so cute and amazing to see her imagination come alive.

She also had her first haircut yesterday. Her hair was growing into a mullet in the back so I just trimmed off that part and now it is a cute little bob 🙂 I love it. Hopefully that will help it to all grow out together instead of a tail straight down her back.

Lastly, she has finally learned to eat with a spoon without throwing it everywhere in route to her mouth. I have a video of her eating that I will try to post.

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!! Thank you Jesus for the miracle of your resurrection and for paying the price for all of our sins, so that we can spend eternity with You one day.

They Call her GENIUS

So today I took Hayden in for her 15month checkup…she’s a little overdue but still close. She weighed in at 27lbs. stands 33 3/4 inches tall and then the big question….”so does she say 3-5 words??” I looked at the doctor stunned…I said, ” Are you serious…only 3 words would qualify her as normal?!?!” She said yes. I laughed and said she knows well over 50..I have counted them up!!!

MY DAUGHTER IS A BONIFIED GENIUS I TELL YOU!!!

They also gave her a shot which she didn’t even cry when they did it. Such a big girl. After I sat her up she looked at me and said “Big Girl” with a big smile on her face…what a ham.

They also asked if she responded to small commands, which of course she does as well as give a few of her own…..Which leads me to……

…she has now started telling us to “Go Away” when she is doing something that she knows she is not supposed to. Yesterday she was trying to play with the space heater and I said, “Hayden, no ma’am. You know better, do not touch.” and she looks at me, points her finger in another direction and says, “Go away. Go away. Go away, Mommy.” I was stunned. It was clear as day. No confusing the words or anything. I freaked. I almost didn’t know what to do. My 16 month daughter is already giving ME commands. Sheesh.

The Weekend of the ER

Wow…where to start. I have tried to sit down and post a couple of times, but I am just so physically and mentally exhausted that I was just blank every time. So this might not be interesting but I want to document it for memory’s sake.

Friday we got a night out. …much needed for me. I was up to my ears in barf and just needed a break from the sad , sick baby. 😦 So we went out with Britton and Jess and a friend of theirs and then split up into guys/girls for a movie….we saw Catch and Release and they saw the new Hannibal…blech. I liked our movie…then we went out for some yummy PF Chang’s…yumm!

Saturday Hayden was doing much better, hadn’t thrown up in a couple of days and was acting herself again, so she and I went to Ty’s b-day party and had a great time……until Hayden threw up everything she had been storing up for the past two days…oh yes…and did I mention how it was right in the middle of opening present time……poor thing. I had it on me and she had it all over her….

Luckily, I had spotted a really cute dress at Target that morning while I was rushing to buy a present so I had that in the car for her….so at least I didn’t have to let her run around in her diaper and socks.

So Hayden and I left, but on top of her being sick again, she was getting dehydrated. She wouldn’t drink anything we tried to give her and everything she did drink, she would throw up. I was getting worried…but the worst was when her hands, feet and lips/mouth turned scarily blue…..I mean blue/purple..It was freaky. So I called the pediatrician and they said to get her to the ER. Something was really wrong if her body parts were turning colors.

So the adventure continued. My mom met me at the ER and we tried to get her in….well you all know how the wait at the ER can be….so we waited and waited, while trying to keep the sick child calm. She was wayyyyyy past her nap by then and freaking out.

Finally we got her in, and BJ got there. So I was really worried that she was going to have to get an IV because there were about 13 other kids in the ER that looked on the brink of death from the whole vomiting/dehydration syndrome. Poor kids…all these moms were trying everything to keep their kids OUT of the ER and here we all were. But when the Dr. came in she said Hayden was not close to needing an iv. So they checked her out and then gave her some medicine for her stomach so that she could keep her liquids down and we got to leave. Thank God! We were only there for about four hours and I am thankful because that is short compared to some people’s stay in the ER.

The whole ordeal was so overwheming and tiring and I was already run down from her being sick all week. So that was like my last straw. The next day I woke up feeling like I hadn’t slept in days and that I had ran several marathons. My body was so sore and I felt feverish and sick and tired….and just blah.

So pray for us, We are exhausted and tired of being sick. The ER experience was one that I never want to have to repeat. EVER.

Hayden is doing good now. She has started eating a little again, and is drinking very good. No more fever and no more blue-ness. Now if my throat would just stop hurting and my energy return to me we’d be in business.

Thanks for all your prayers and calls!

A Moment In Time

So last night amidst the tears and barf, Hayden and I had a moment…it was so precious…I was cradling her like a little baby and she was LO-VING IT! She was just gazing into my eyes and I was rubbing her little face, trying anything I could think of to take her mind off her rolling tummy. Then suddenly the moment happened….I said quietly to her…” I love you baby girl” and she looks back and slowly raises her little hand to my face…I thought to myself, “this must look so cute” …..she continues to raise her hand and I think she is going to try to rub my face like I’m rubbing hers, but instead her little pointer finger goes straight….into….my nose.

I died laughing and so did she. Then she kept trying to do it all night long and I thought it was the funniest thing.

I’m sure the “moment” would have been nice, but the one that resulted is one I will definitely never forget.

Barf and Bed….what an agenda

Hayden stayed in bed til 1pm today…woke up, had a bath, barfed twice and is back in bed…poor thing….
